The YouTube description calls this a Kizomba step....specifically..."bounce Kizomba". I see something here that could be adapted to Merengue.

Today's dance known as "Kizomba", is actually an Angolan dance step that was adapted to another music known as Kizomba. And the step itself is related to another dance, similar to Samba, called "Semba".

One of the unique things about it is that the dancers have the option of doing a 3 step (similar to 'swing' dancing) and a 2 step...like Merengue (except not so friggin' boring).

You'll notice in this couple's steps how they alternate between a 2 step and a 3 step....and also notice the special little things the guy does. I'm not gonna say what they are :-)
