In the US we have a phrase we use....."...on the map."
It would be used in a sentence like this:
"When they discovered gold on his property it really put that little town he lived in on the map!"
Meaning of course that the little town where he lived, prior to the discovery of gold in the vicinity, was not well known. But, when gold was discovered in the area it because very famous.
Here's a little video I made to promote our upcoming Latin Dance Crash Course. Most of you who read this can already dance but if you know somebody who's betting putting off learning to dance for a long time, please tell'em about our class. They'll learn the basics of salsa (on2), Cha-cha, Bachata, and Kizomba. We're even doing a totally FREE 30" 'Basic Steps and Rhythm Class" at 2:30pm (i.e. 30 minutes before the regular class. Such a deal!!
I'm always scheming and dreaming and I've been thinking a lot lately about how I can find the right mix to take to 'the public' to get them involved in Casino Rueda, Bachata, Cha-cha and Kozomba. I know that the majority of people probably would not be interested in all those dances but, on the other hand, I think there is a lot of people who are interested in more than one of them but, for various reasons, still haven't gotten around to doing anything.
If you've got any friends in Gumi, you'll want to let them know that Art Williams (me) is starting Casino Rueda lessons at The Waegook Cook Pub near downtown Gumi. Waegook Pub was voted in the Top 10 Pubs in Korea by 10 Magazine. It's a very nice place and the food is great too.
I met with the owner, Derrick Smith, last night and Derrick is very excited about letting me do these casino rueda lessons there on Tuesdays at 9:30-11:00 pm. I'm sure it'll be lots of fun . The lessons are… Continue

Today I the the feature over on http://meetup.com/kizmba-korea and made some business card sized flyers for our Kizomba Group. They're just on regular paper and I cut them by hand but, still, they look pretty good. I think they're all that's needed for giving somebody a place to find us on the net.
I also made an 8.5" X 11" flyer with tear-off tabs which each have our URL. This kind of thing is perfect for putting on bulletin boards and… Continue

I'm doing another free Kizomba class this coming Saturday, May 8th, 1:30-3:00 pm. there at beautiful Candela Dance Studio. We'll cover all the basics and, for those who've already learned them, we're also going to work on one of the most basic and beautiful of Kizomba moves....."Saida". I need the practice myself so we'll all be helping each other.
In addition to Saida though, we'll learn one or two other patterns as time permits.
I'm expecting a couple of Filipino friends of… Continue

Our Freshman Kizomba is going very well. Especially when you consider that it's a totally new dance in Korea. Matter of fact I don't think anybody's even doing it in Japan or China.......yet. But I'm sure it's going to happen soon.
Last Saturday we had 4 lovely ladies and 2 guys (counting me). I might add also that the ladies were from 4 different countries.....Ukraine, Czech Republic, S.Africa and US(or maybe it was Canada. And one of our ladies, Sarah, had to be absent. So that makes… Continue

Saturday's Kizomba class is still 'on'. I got a note from one of the lovely Candela ladies who was wondering if maybe she shouldn't come because there might not be any guys.
As I told her when I returned her message........I never know until I actually get there who's going to be there. And anyway, at this point there's a lot to be learned from having a small group of people, even if it is 3 or 4 girls and me, who can practice the basics.
I'm always excited about something. This time it's the next Kizomba class coming up just 5 short days from now, on April 24th, there at beautiful Candela Dance Studio in Yangjae.
Two new ladies have said they're coming. One of them is a favorite teacher friend of mine who already is taking lessons there at Candela. The other is a very nice young lady, an American I think, who I recently met and danced with at American Latina. I gave her a Kizomba CD and suggested she contact me about… Continue
Wow! The Kizomba class was really great! I had soooo much fun it was mostly because the 3 people who were at the class were so appreciative and enjoyed themselves so much. And they really did learn a lot too.
We went about 80 minutes and the class, one guy (Derek) and 2 ladies (Sara and Alice) learned to do the basics very well. I'm really proud of them and impressed with their ability. Sure, I've always said that Kizomba basics are relatively easy…
I've got the entire weekend off and I'm coming to Seoul this Friday evening. And Saturday I'll be meeting one of our lady members for a Beginner Level lesson in Kizomba. It's free and you can come too. I'm excited about it.
That's right. I got an email from one of the lady members here who was interested in learning more about Kizomba. We connected on the phone and talked about it and I'm going…
I'm coming to Seoul this coming weekend, April 9-10th. I'll be coming in Friday night so I can go to the Bachata Night over at Bahia, but........
There's a possibility I could do a beginner Kizomba class over at Candela Saturday afternoon.
I'm not interested in charging anything for it. If you could come to this class for an hour....that's all it would take to learn the basics of this beautiful dance. And I will go so far as to say that if you compare the two…
I did this video as a response to a dance friend if mine in Seoul named Michelle. Michelle is a member of a salsa social group I'm part of up there. She likes casino rueda and came to several of the casino rueda classes I did up there. Plus she also likes Kizomba and I was able to show her what little I knew about it at the time I was living up there (near Seoul).
We had all people last week. And Gabriel did his best job.
After the class, we had a little practice, and after that, we were so hungry. We went dinner together.
We tried korean food like bibimbap and jungkuk-jang together. Getting to know new people and having fun with them is alway great!
Please join us, if anybody is interested. I think we will need next level class soon.
